Adopting a cat or dog from Four Paws Adoption and Education Inc means that you are providing an animal with a loving and caring “furever” home.
All animals that come through Four Paws have been assessed and found to be suitable for rehoming. All animals are treated for heart worm, intestinal worms and fleas as per our parasite prevention programs plus all are microchipped and desexed.
Cats are tested for FIV and Felv if over 12 weeks of age and all are vaccinated with an F3 and FIV course of vaccinations.
Adoption fee for most Cats is $180 and Adoption fee for dogs is $280. At times and at our discretion we may offer a lower adoption fee for certain animals depending on their age, behaviour and circumstances. Adoption fees are NOT negotiable.
These fees help to cover the cost of sterilisation, vaccinations, microchipping, vet bills and food/parasite control while the animal has been in our care.
As part of the adoption process all adopted animals will be registered with Livingstone Shire Council if you reside within our shire. This fee is kindly waived by the LSC from the date of adoption up until the next registration period (currently Aug 31 each year). From then on you will be responsible for the annual payment. Before applying to adopt one of our animals please ensure you are abiding by council regulations – in the Livingstone Shire the maximum amount of cats and dogs per household is 2. Please contact the LSC direct for clarification and further information including permits and costs if you wish to have more than 2 cats or dogs. If you live in another shire and adopt a animal from us please contact your local council for their regulations as they may be different.
Adoption fees can be paid in cash or cheque along with all paperwork at the adoption handover or in advance into our bank account. All details are on the Adoption Application Form.
You can download and complete the Adoption Application Form and Adoption Agreement Form (both must be completed) and return to us by email, post or in person.
Please read the Adoption Agreement Form carefully to understand your rights and responsibilities.
